Supportive Housing and Homelessness Program
Finding safe, affordable housing can be a challenge. AMHS-HPE can offer some assistance with this by providing access to housing and rental subsidies along with the necessary supports to help maintain housing.
*Internal referrals only
Housing Resource and Co-ordination
Our Housing Co-ordinator can provide individuals with a mental health concern with housing listings and give some pointers on how to resolve any housing issues/needs. If needed, clients are provided with one-on-one help to secure housing; the co-ordinator works directly with landlords and income supports to make the move as easy as possible.
Short-Term Residential Crisis Services Program
In collaboration with the Crisis Intervention Centre, AMHS-HPE provides short-term, residential crisis services in the community as an alternative to custody for people with a mental illness who have come into contact with the law. This service is accessed only through the Crisis Intervention Centre.
Our agency has two group homes within the city of Belleville. Each home has five bedrooms, allowing each resident to have a private bedroom, with shared kitchen, living and bathroom areas.
The group homes are staffed half days, Monday to Friday. The welcoming, supportive environment encourages residents to achieve the goals they have set for themselves by supporting them to: attend scheduled appointments, attend to health-related matters, learn or re-learn life skills, have fun through social and recreational opportunities, develop healthy interpersonal relationships and solve problems.
The group home staff work with the residents to develop or expand their activities of daily living, including keeping their home clean and organized, laundry, and cooking skills through menu planning and grocery shopping, as well as teaching them how to prepare new, healthy and interesting meals. Residents are expected to participate in these activities and are encouraged to try new things.
